InRelation
In my Light Language vocal practice and improvisation, I have come to feel with increasing clarity that, at least in my own practice, sound never arises in isolation. It is always in relation to the body, breath, emotion, space, listeners, and everything unfolding in the present moment.
This has also led me to look at life through the same lens: how we relate to one another, to the world, and to ourselves—we are always in relation.
“Self-nature is relation itself.” This thought often comes to me. It keeps leading me to ask: What is relation, really? And what deeper logic lies beneath it?
With this question in mind, I began reading the Tao Te Ching, chapter by chapter, returning each time to my own lived experience of life and sound. Light Language, then, becomes the point at which this reading ultimately returns to sound.
When understanding temporarily recedes and words begin to loosen, these realizations move from the mind back into the body, flowing once again from language into sound.
From classical text, back to the living voice.
This is not a traditional commentary on the Tao Te Ching. Rather, it is an inward attunement journal moving from classical text toward the sound of life, and from understanding back to being.
This space will continue to evolve with my reading, experience, and sound practice. Each chapter is explored not only through words, but also through images and Light Language.
