A fully improvised Light Language voice draws the visual field forth from darkness, breath, and faint glimmers of light, carrying it slowly through a space not yet named by language. Enter with sound, or choose silence and simply watch the visual resonance emerge.
In my experience, Light Language is not a language to be translated sentence by sentence.
It is closer to a form of free, non-semantic vocal expression. When words and rational thought temporarily recede, emotion, atmosphere, tension, and inner experience emerge naturally through sound.
In my practice, non-semantic vocal improvisation is not arbitrary vocalization. It depends closely on my real-time perception of and response to the relationships among body, sound, space, and the present moment.
Using Light Language as my core medium, I explore the relationships among sound, being, consciousness, improvisation, and AI.
In my improvisational practice, when sound no longer relies on pre-written lyrics or melodies, emotion, structure, and narrative still emerge gradually as the sound unfolds in the present moment.
From free vocal expression to improvisation, from improvisation to narrative, from narrative to music, and from music toward opera.
For me, Light Language is more than a sonic phenomenon. I continue to explore it as an artistic medium.
